  kenneth Juster confirmed as US ambassador to India

Senior White House oficial kenneth juster
was on october2017confiirmed as the
UnitedState ambassador to india by the
US senete forign relation commitee through
a voice vote. juster will succeed Richard varma,
the first Indian-american to head this position.
Verma resigned from the post on 20january with
the swearing of Donald trump as the 45 president
of UnitedStates.the position has been lying vacant
since then.

WEF releses Global Gender Gap Report          

 2017:india ranked 108th in it's Global Gender gap Index 

The world Economic Forum(WEF) on 2 november 2017
releases the Global Gender Gap Report 2017.the report
catalogus 144 countries on the basis of the progress
towards gender parity and then losts them accordingly i
n its global gender gap index.

these 144 countries are ranked on the basis of four
thematic diamensions Economic Participation and Opportunity,
Educational Attainment, Health and Survival, and Political
Empowerment.

this year, Global Gender Gap Index 2017 is topped by Iceland,
 while India fetched 108 rank, slipped 21 places in comparision
 with its 87th rank in 2016.

Krishna Sobti chosen for jnanpith award 2017 

krishna sobti,renowed Hindi litterature,will be honoured with 53rd jnanpith award for the year 2017.The decision was announced by the jnanpith selection boardat meeting of the selection committee held on 3 November 2017 the meeting was chaired by renowed hindi critic Namwar Singh.the 92 year-old writer was chosen for the prestigious award forher path-breaking contribution in the field of literature.

India sucessfully tests its first fully indigenous Glide bomb

The union government announced on 3 November 2017 that an indigenouslly
developed light weight 'Glide bomb was sucessfully tested in chandipur
in odisha.The development marks a major milestone in developing such
weapons.The bomb SAAW(smart anti airfield weapon) was dropped from an
Indian Air force air craft at Integrated Test Range(ITR)in chandipur
 on 2 November.

The conference was organaised by the world federation for
mental health in partnership with caring foundation and other
